Meet with
Dr. Bertrand Piccard

Another dream of mankind became true: With a hot balloon around the world. The world's best balloonist did try it  - the Swiss Psychiatrist Bertrand Piccard and the British Engineer Brian Jones finally did it.

On March 21st 1999 at 05:52 GMT, Breitling Orbiter 3 touched down in south-western Egypt, 19 days, 21 hours and 47 minutes after leaving Château d'Oex and fighting against stormy wind, rain and cold. It had completed the first non-stop round-the-world balloon flight. This exploit demonstrates that, on the cusp of the new millennium, adventure is still possible.
